Congratulations!

Prudence Flint, Scrambled egg

Congratulations to Prudence Flint on winning the prestigious Portia Geach Memorial Award for 2010.  The judges commented ‘her painting Scrambled egg is distinguished by its integrity and honesty and the work stood out throughout the judging process. The self-portrait is the work of a gifted and highly accomplished artist who has a real understanding of paint as a medium. The beautifully composed work invites contemplation and rewards extended viewing. It references paintings in art history as well as portraying a universal moment in the life of a woman with gentleness.’

Commenting on her win, Prudence said that she was thrilled to be a part of the Award’s legacy. Since first entering the Award in 1998, Prudence’s artworks have been hung in the Portia Geach finals ten times.

Artist Statment: In this painting I wanted to capture the intimate act of transforming one thing into another.

Chapman Gallery will be presenting a solo exhibition of Prue’s new work in May 2011.  Her previous exhibition at Chapman Gallery (2008) was a sell out.
